Ice Cream and Mono Dreams

Last night I had that Ben & Jerry's Creme Brulee I've been craving. Okay, I had the whole pint. Each spoonful was yummylicious. I savored it, and now the craving is satisfied. Afterwards, I took a few minutes to appreciate that.

Too often I go from wanting something, to having it, and slide right in to the wanting again. One upside of sickness is I take satisfaction from smaller things.

This morning I had another strange dream. I don't usually remember my dreams, so maybe it's the mono.

I dreamed I was in the Empire State Building...

...working for Pablo Picasso.

He had been commissioned to create a tapestry to hang in a stairwell, going continuously from the top of the building to the bottom. There are 102 stories in the Empire State Building The thing was enormous.

This tapestry, it was not in the style of Picasso.

It was in the primitive style of 16,000-year-old cave paintings found in Lascaux, France.

I was helping Picasso unroll and hang the tapestry in the stairwell. I was not good at the job. When we were unrolling, I kept tripping. When we were hanging, I kept dropping my end. (No doubt that's how it would have gone in real life, too.)

Picasso was getting pissy with me, yelling at me in Spanish.

This was the whole dream: unrolling, hanging, Picasso getting more and more pissy with me, until I woke up.

I'm guessing the Empire State Building came into it because yesterday was 9/11 and I had New York and tall buildings in my thoughts. As for Picasso and the cave paintings, I have no idea. I'm aware of them, I studied them a little in college and I've been to a Picasso exhibition, but that was years ago and they don't normally cross my mind. So fascinating that this stuff recycles seemingly at random.

A bed made of waffle cone, Ben & Jerry, Pablo Picasso and cave paintings. This is fun, remembering my dreams.

Very interesting and unique dream. It's intriguing the way your brain puts all kind of bits and pieces of things from your memory todgether into a strange story. I don't usually remember any of my dreams, but when I do they are usually strange or anxiety-producing.
